Selkirk Americas, LP
On June 24, 2002, Tinicum I joined with management to purchase Selkirk from U.S. Industries. Selkirk manufactures ventilating and air distribution products for the HVAC and hearth markets. At the time of Tinicum’s acquisition, the company was the US market leader in chimney products and was a prominent manufacturer of gas vents and grilles, registers, and diffusers. During Tinicum’s period of ownership, Selkirk rationalized its product lines, logistics and manufacturing operations, an effort that included transferring production from high-cost US plants to facilities in lower-wage countries, primarily Mexico. On March 1, 2006, Tinicum sold Selkirk to Tomkins plc (NYSE: GTES).
